In conjunction with the Borden brand's 150th Anniversary Celebration, Elsie the Cow will be visiting the east coast. On June 5th, she will be in Washington, DC visiting the nation's premiere historical museum for a donation ceremony of several Borden brand artifacts into the museum's archives. Then, on June 7th, Elsie will invade the Big Apple for another induction ceremony, this time at the New York Historical Society. On Thursday, June 7 a Gail Borden scrapbook and a tin-type photo of Gail Borden were donated to the New York Historical Society to add to its collection of Borden items.
I had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with the cake design for the Borden 150th Anniversary Celebration in New York City on June 7, 2007. My cake student, Christine was contacted to put the cake together, which had to be made of all things good for a cow to eat, LOL...in other words, the cake was actually for ELSIE, not the humans gathered, thus the ingredients had to be cow friendly! She used a combination of cow feed, grains, egg whites and molasses. We then decorated the cake with edible cow treats, such as hay and fresh real daisies! THINK CAKE FOR A COW TO EAT!
